1. SOCIAL IMPACT OF MUSIC
Music brings people together, and create interpersonal relationship among people of different ethnic groups, races, sex.
Music are performed individually, and in groups, people come together to sing, dance or play musical instruments. By so doing they interact with one another, develop love, and even inter marry as the care may be.
Also music encourages development of team sprit, and cooperation.
2. EDUCATIONAL IMPACT OF MUSIC
Music help to develop intellectual ability and talent. The study of music involve the study of :
(a) Mathematics as in intervals, chords and it’s inversions, scoring and arranging, harmonic progressions etc.
(b) Physics as in sound, construction and tuning of musical instruments.
(c) Biology, as in voice technique, skills in singing and human body as musical Instrument etc
(d) Chemistry as analysis and composition.
(c) History and literature as in Literature and History of music. In fact, music cuts across every field of study.
3. EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF MUSIC
Music creates and expresses human feelings. Music can make one to be moody, happy or sad. It can make one to sing, dance, pray, walk or match.
It control or send one to sleep. It makes one to love and to be loved. Even Even animals like dogs and snakes are found listening and enjoying good music. Dirge often make people burst into tears during funeral – ceremony.
Music Military or Martial Music can steer one to action e.g soldiers preparing and getting ready for war, during works and sports. Music is an agent of socialization.
4. ECONOMIC IMPACT OF MUSIC
Music helps to boost the economic of a country and that of an individual. The music industry offers employment to people. It creates wealth to dealers on musical instruments. To musicians through awards, e. g Grant award, and people paying money to watch them perform. Also musicians make their money through royalties paid to them by companies, radio and television station, sales of the records and adverts.
5. SPIRITUAL IMPACT OF MUSIC
Music helps in spiritual uplifting during worship, singing of sacred music like hymn, canticles chant.
6. THERAPEUTIC IMPACT OF MUSIC
Music is used for curing certain types of illness e.g depression, mental disorder. In the Holy Bible David played the lute for Saul whenever he was tormented by melancholy. Music is also played for mental patients in psychiatric hospitals.
